Cancellation of the BelgianArtPrize 2020

Since 1950, the npo De Jonge Belgische Schilderkunst – La Jeune Peinture Belge/ BelgianArtPrize has independently put contemporary Belgian artists in the spotlights by organising art awards.

The artists selected by the jury of the BelgianArtPrize 2020 have presented requirements which imply changes to the regulations, to partnership agreements and to the organisation of the Prize itself.

The association wants to remain faithful to its commitment and its mode of operation.

As no compromise could be found, the organisers of the BelgianArtPrize have decided to cancel the 2020 edition.

The consequence of this decision is that there will be neither finalists nor laureates of the BelgianArtPrize in 2020 and that the exhibition planned from 19 March to 24 May 2020 at the Centre for Fine Arts will not take place.

All the attention of the organisers of the BelgianArtPrize is now focused on the development of the 2021 edition of the Prize.
