The jury was particularly impressed by the radical way in which Dietvorst has developed and shaped her practice since the 1990s. They were equally struck by the coherence between Dietvorst’s body of work and her personal identity. Defying the classical, commercial, and institutional art circuits, she stands as proof that an independent artistic practice is not only possible but also immensely valuable.
