‘Back to the Future’ at Art Brussels

Faced with the sheer impossible task of compiling a retrospective featuring the main prizewinners of the past 75 years, Lambion and Crevits chose instead to focus on the future. Paying close attention to balance across various criteria (gender, language, discipline, aesthetic vocabulary, award received, level of recognition, and market integration), they selected eight artists: Els Dietvorst, Ann Veronica Janssens, Juan d’Oultremont, Sébastien Reuzé, Emmanuel Van der Auwera, Pieter Vermeersch, Leen Voet, and Sophie Whettnall.

Each artist was invited to engage in an artistic dialogue with an artist who had never before participated in the BelgianArtPrize but who could be a potential future candidate.
